Leadership & Governance

Public charter schools are governed by a volunteer board that holds the school accountable to its mission, its families, and the public.

The role of a governing board

A board sets direction. The school leader runs the school.

Our intended founding board would bring together community members with diverse expertise who share a commitment to the school's vision. Here are the areas of responsibility we anticipate.

  • Mission stewardship

Keeping the school focused on its mission and the children it serves.

  • Strategic direction

Setting long-term goals, including the planned growth from K–3 to K–8.

  • Financial oversight

Approving budgets and ensuring public funds are managed responsibly.

  • School leader accountability

Hiring, supporting, and evaluating the school's leader.

  • Community relationships

Representing the school and listening to families and neighbors.
