Learning at The Village

Our Academic Approach

Strong foundations come first. We plan for every child to build the reading, writing, and math skills that open every other door.

Four areas at the core of every grade

Literacy

Explicit, systematic instruction in foundational reading skills, paired with rich read-alouds, writing every day, and knowledge-building texts.

Mathematics

Number sense, fluency, and problem-solving built through hands-on materials, visual models, and real-world application.

Science

Observation, questioning, and investigation — learning to think like scientists from the earliest grades.

Social studies

Learning about family, community, Atlanta, Georgia, and the world, with diverse perspectives and voices.

Inquiry and application

Knowledge that children use

Our proposed approach pairs direct instruction with chances to apply skills: investigating questions, building projects, and — through the proposed MicroSociety model — using reading, writing, and math in a classroom community.

Curriculum selections and instructional materials are still being developed and will be shared once finalized.

Stay connected

Your Place in the Village Starts Here
